La mejora en la eficiencia de las placas fotovoltaicas y la reducci\u00f3n de costes en su fabricaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 acelerando la instalaci\u00f3n de este tipo de centrales en buena parte del mundo, incluso en situaciones como la actual en que el descenso del precio del petr\u00f3leo dificulta el crecimiento de tecnolog\u00edas y combustibles menos contaminantes.<\/p>\n<p>En algunos pa\u00edses la principal dificultad en el aprovechamiento de la energ\u00eda solar se debe -por motivos obvios- a la situaci\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica y las pocas horas de insolaci\u00f3n. En otras zonas, el problema se debe a la limita disponibilidad de espacios libres para situar este tipo de plantas, que ocupan superficies relativamente grandes.<\/p>\n<p>Una de las mejores y m\u00e1s modernas alternativas a este problema de espacio en tierra es precisamente la construcci\u00f3n de plantas solares sobre el agua. Los embalses y lagos pueden ofrecer en algunos casos una extensi\u00f3n relativamente tranquila para situar placas solares de grandes dimensiones sin reducir la superficie terrestre destinada a la agricultura o la construcci\u00f3n, seg\u00fan est\u00e1n demostrando las primeras experiencias en este campo desarrolladas en pa\u00edses como Corea del Sur o Jap\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jap\u00f3n no puede perder ni un palmo de tierra<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Las empresas Kyocera Corporation y Century Tokyo Leasing Corporation anunciaron el pasado 21 de enero el inicio de la obras de la planta solar flotante m\u00e1s grande del mundo (13,7 Mw) en aguas del embalse de Yamakura (Jap\u00f3n). La nueva planta estar\u00e1 formada por 51.000 placas solares instaladas en una superficie de 180.000 metros cuadrados. El proyecto generar\u00e1 unos 16.170 megavatios hora (MWh) al a\u00f1o -equivalente a la electricidad que consumen unos 5.000 hogares en esta regi\u00f3n japonesa.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto se inici\u00f3 en octubre de 2014, cuando la Agencia de Empresas P\u00fablicas de la Prefectura de Chiba puso en marcha un concurso p\u00fablico para encontrar empresas que quisieran construir y operar plantas de energ\u00eda solar flotante, dentro de su iniciativa para apoyar a las energ\u00edas renovables sin causar impactos ambientales.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Efecto post-Fukushima<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El accidente en la central nuclear ha obligado a Jap\u00f3n a potenciar las energ\u00edas renovables<\/p>\n<p>Desde el accidente de la central nuclear de Fukushima, Jap\u00f3n ha incrementado su apoyo a las energ\u00edas renovables pero se enfrenta a problemas importantes como las grandes extensiones de terreno que necesitan las plantas de energ\u00eda solar; en un pa\u00eds en que el territorio est\u00e1 sometido a una gran presi\u00f3n a causa de la urbanizaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>La utilizaci\u00f3n de la l\u00e1mina de agua de los embalses es una alternativa para proyectos como el que se construye ahora en Yamakura y que cuenta con precedentes de menor escala tambi\u00e9n en Jap\u00f3n desde 2014.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instalaciones completadas en Corea de Sur<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Por su parte, el pasado mes de noviembre, la empresa LG CNS anunci\u00f3 la finalizaci\u00f3n de las obras de dos centrales fotovolt\u00e1icas flotantes en los embalses de Otae y Jipyong, en Corea del Sur.<\/p>\n<p>Cada una de estas instalaciones tiene 3 Mw y pueden ser consideradas las plantas solares flotantes m\u00e1s potentes del mundo (sin contar la futura y anteriormente mencionada planta de Yamakura, en Jap\u00f3n).<\/p>\n<p>Los paneles solares de los dos embalses coreanos cubren unos 64.000 metros cuadrados de superficie de agua y pueden generar unos 8.600 megavatios hora al a\u00f1o, equivalente al consumo de unos 2.400 hogares en esta regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>La compa\u00f1\u00eda LG CNS planea construir en 2016 centrales el\u00e9ctricas flotantes con una potencia conjunta de 50 megavatios. \u201cLas centrales el\u00e9ctricas flotantes son beneficiosas para el medio ambiente ya que son menos intrusivas que las plantas de tierra y crean sombras que ayudan a reducir la proliferaci\u00f3n de algas en los embalses\u201d, seg\u00fan ha explicado el vicepresidente de LG CNS Kim Tae-keuk en declaraciones recogidas por diversos medios locales.<\/p>\n<p><em>Fuente:
