{"id":37154,"date":"2017-10-27T19:00:01","date_gmt":"2017-10-27T22:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/patagoniambiental.com.ar\/info\/?p=37154"},"modified":"2017-10-26T15:20:53","modified_gmt":"2017-10-26T18:20:53","slug":"nueva-york-puede-sufrir-inundaciones-masivas-de-cinco-en-cinco-anos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/patagoniambiental.com.ar\/info\/nueva-york-puede-sufrir-inundaciones-masivas-de-cinco-en-cinco-anos\/","title":{"rendered":"Nueva York puede sufrir inundaciones masivas de cinco en cinco a\u00f1os"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Nueva York.-La ciudad de Nueva York, en los estados UNIDOS, puede llegar a sufrir grandes inundaciones, con una frecuencia cada vez mayor, debido a los cambios clim\u00e1ticos. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>La previsi\u00f3n es de un estudio que concluy\u00f3 que este fen\u00f3meno natural, que antes se observaba cada 500 a\u00f1os, ahora puede repetir de cinco en cinco a\u00f1os.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nueva York puede llegar a sufrir enormes inundaciones de 5 en 5 a\u00f1os, concluye un estudio publicado en la revista\u00a0<em>Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, cuando se acerca el\u00a0<strong>5\u00a0aniversario de la s\u00faper-tormenta Sandy<\/strong>, que en 2012 dej\u00f3 la ciudad norteamericana\u00a0<strong>inundado y paralizada, con 180 muertos<\/strong>\u00a0y miles de millones de d\u00f3lares de p\u00e9rdidas.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>La frecuencia de estas grandes inundaciones tiende a aumentar, concluyen los investigadores, seg\u00fan los cuales estos fen\u00f3menos, que\u00a0<strong>antes de 1800 surgieron de 500 en 500 a\u00f1os<\/strong>\u00a0tienen, poco a poco, aumentado de frecuencia.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Entre 1970 y 2005\u00a0<strong>esta frecuencia era de s\u00f3lo 25 a\u00f1os<\/strong>. Entre 2030 y 2045, la frecuencia puede disminuir a s\u00f3lo cinco a\u00f1os, vaticinam los cient\u00edficos. Las conclusiones del estudio se basan en el an\u00e1lisis de datos de la\u00a0<strong>subida del nivel de las aguas del mar<\/strong>\u00a0y la\u00a0<strong>fusi\u00f3n del hielo de la Ant\u00e1rtida<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Si estos procesos empeoran r\u00e1pidamente, la subida del nivel de las aguas en Nueva York puede llegar a los\u00a0<strong>2,4 metros<\/strong>\u00a0en el final del siglo, vaticina el equipo de cient\u00edficos, compuesta por elementos de las universidades norte-americanas de Rutgers, Princeton y la universidad de Massachusetts Amherst, del MIT y de la instituci\u00f3n oceanogr\u00e1fica Woods Hole.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Los investigadores compararon datos de modelos de tormentas de la ciudad de Nueva York, de proyecciones probabil\u00edsticas sobre la subida del nivel del mar y de modelos avanzados del clima, incluyendo simulaciones de alta resoluci\u00f3n de huracanes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Los autores del estudio se\u00f1alan que\u00a0<strong>los resultados registrados son un \u201calerta\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0para que las autoridades se preparan para proteger a la poblaci\u00f3n de Nueva York, de 8,5 millones de habitantes:\u00a0<strong>el mar
