Aunque los procesos biol\u00f3gicos son m\u00e1s econ\u00f3micos, en algunas ocasiones, tampoco son una soluci\u00f3n adecuada. La presencia de sustancias t\u00f3xicas, no biodegradables o simplemente inhibitorias hace necesario recurrir a tecnolog\u00edas de tratamiento no convencionales.<\/p>\n<p>Es el caso de la llamada tecnolog\u00eda de oxidaci\u00f3n avanzada Fenton. Este tratamiento ha sido planteado con \u00e9xito para la eliminaci\u00f3n de estas sustancias en diferentes sectores industriales. Sin embargo, es un m\u00e9todo que resulta muy costoso, porque implica un elevado consumo del oxidante empleado (per\u00f3xido de hidr\u00f3geno) y, adem\u00e1s, opera a temperaturas elevadas (120 \u00b0C).<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ecoticias.com\/userfiles\/2018\/Jan_26\/54_2_86_original.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"406\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ahora investigadores del Grupo de Ingenier\u00eda Qu\u00edmica y Ambiental de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) y de la Red Madrile\u00f1a de Tratamiento de Aguas Residuales (REMTAVARES) han realizado un estudio t\u00e9cnico y econ\u00f3mico del tratamiento de aguas residuales de origen farmac\u00e9utico de un proceso que combina la tecnolog\u00eda de oxidaci\u00f3n Fenton y el tratamiento biol\u00f3gico.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEn el proceso combinado hemos estudiado la oxidaci\u00f3n Fenton como pretratamiento a un tratamiento biol\u00f3gico, disminuyendo en un 65% el aporte de oxidante y reduciendo la temperatura a 70 \u00b0C\u201d, explica Fernando Mart\u00ednez, investigador principal del estudio y miembro del grupo de la URJC.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ecoticias.com\/userfiles\/2018\/Jan_26\/54_3_89_original.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"719\" height=\"474\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cEn estas condiciones se consigue aumentar la biodegradabilidad del agua residual y alcanzar una elevada reducci\u00f3n de la demanda qu\u00edmica de ox\u00edgeno (DQO) tras el tratamiento biol\u00f3gico posterior, con valores incluso superiores a los obtenidos por el proceso Fenton como tratamiento \u00fanico\u201d, a\u00f1ade.<\/p>\n<p>El tratamiento Fenton utilizado hasta ahora alcanza una reducci\u00f3n de DQO del 85%. En el nuevo proceso combinado se logra una reducci\u00f3n del 49% con el pretratamiento Fenton y, despu\u00e9s del proceso biol\u00f3gico, se llega al 97%.<\/p>\n<p>Reducci\u00f3n de costes<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ecoticias.com\/userfiles\/2018\/Jan_26\/54_5_84_original.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"718\" height=\"478\" \/><\/p>\n<p>El empleo del proceso combinado (Fenton y biol\u00f3gico) permite reducir el coste por metro c\u00fabico de agua tratada un 36% respecto al proceso Fenton utilizado actualmente en una industria farmac\u00e9utica. \u201cEl ahorro en el consumo de per\u00f3xido permite compensar el aumento de los costes de operaci\u00f3n del tratamiento biol\u00f3gico y de los costes de gesti\u00f3n de los fangos\u201d, se\u00f1ala Fernando Mart\u00ednez.<\/p>\n<p>La mayor producci\u00f3n de fangos del proceso combinado y, en consecuencia, de los costes de gesti\u00f3n asociados no suponen una contribuci\u00f3n importante a los costes de operaci\u00f3n (aproximadamente un 10 %). Adem\u00e1s, los costes de operaci\u00f3n del tratamiento biol\u00f3gico apenas alcanzan un 11%. Por tanto, la reducci\u00f3n de un 65% del consumo de per\u00f3xido de hidr\u00f3geno es un factor clave en la econom\u00eda del proceso.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ecoticias.com\/userfiles\/2018\/Jan_26\/54_4_37_original.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"719\" height=\"623\" \/><\/p>\n<p>De este modo, considerando los costes de operaci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como los costes de amortizaci\u00f3n del capital invertido, el coste de tratamiento del agua residual farmac\u00e9utica puede reducirse de los 25 \u20ac\/m3 para el proceso implementado actualmente en la industria farmac\u00e9utica, a los 16 \u20ac\/m3 en el proceso combinado propuesto.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Referencia bibliogr\u00e1fica:<\/p>\n<p>F.
