{"id":42734,"date":"2018-02-26T09:00:32","date_gmt":"2018-02-26T12:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/patagoniambiental.com.ar\/info\/?p=42734"},"modified":"2018-02-25T19:49:56","modified_gmt":"2018-02-25T22:49:56","slug":"el-40-de-los-lagos-pampeanos-bonaerenses-esta-contaminado-con-glifosato","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/patagoniambiental.com.ar\/info\/el-40-de-los-lagos-pampeanos-bonaerenses-esta-contaminado-con-glifosato\/","title":{"rendered":"El 40 % de los lagos pampeanos bonaerenses est\u00e1 contaminado con glifosato"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Un estudio publicado el pasado martes 20 de este mes en la revista Science Direct y que estuvo a cargo de un grupo de cient\u00edficos del Instituto de Investigaciones Biotecnol\u00f3gicas de Chascom\u00fas y del Centro de Investigaciones del Medio Ambiente de La Plata, se\u00f1al\u00f3 que \u201cse detectaron residuos de herbicidas en el 40\u00a0% de los lagos pampeanos, lo que sugiere que el glifosato y el AMPA son contaminantes habituales de las aguas estancadas de la provincia de Buenos Aires\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>El estudio, titulado\u00a0<a class=\"spip_out\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0045653518303151\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\">Ocurrencia y niveles de glifosato y AMPA en lagos someros de las regiones pampeana y patag\u00f3nica de Argentina<\/a>, estuvo a cargo del qu\u00edmico especializado en contaminaci\u00f3n ambiental Dami\u00e1n Marino y de los bi\u00f3logos especializados en ecolog\u00eda Manuel Castro Berman, Mar\u00eda Victoria Quiroga y Horacio Zagarese, quienes se\u00f1alaron que se tratar\u00eda del \u201cprimer estudio que informa la ocurrencia y las concentraciones del herbicida en los lagos de agua dulce de Argentina\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExaminamos 52 lagos poco profundos de la regi\u00f3n de la Pampa (Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina) para evaluar la ocurrencia y las concentraciones de glifosato y su principal producto de degradaci\u00f3n (AMPA). Como comparaci\u00f3n, tambi\u00e9n muestreamos lagos poco profundos de un \u00e1rea sin uso agr\u00edcola de glifosato (Patagonia norte)\u201d, se\u00f1alaron los cient\u00edficos.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan los resultados, \u201cdentro de la regi\u00f3n de Pampa se detectaron residuos de glifosato en &gt; 40\u00a0% de las muestras\u201d. Sin embargo, \u201cel herbicida no se detect\u00f3 en muestras de la regi\u00f3n patag\u00f3nica\u201d. Seg\u00fan aclaran los cient\u00edficos, los residuos de glifosato se detectaron con mayor frecuencia en sedimentos y aguas superficiales que en las muestras de material en part\u00edculas suspendidas (SPM).<\/p>\n<p>Por otro lado, rara vez se detectaron juntos el glifosato y el AMPA (las dos excepciones fueron los lagos La Luj\u00e1n y Chasic\u00f3). \u201cTal patr\u00f3n de ocurrencia aparentemente mutuamente exclusivo no ha sido anticipado. La frecuencia de detecci\u00f3n de glifosato fue mayor (30,8\u00a0% de los lagos) que la de AMPA (13,5\u00a0% de los lagos)\u201d, indicaron.<\/p>\n<p>El glifosato es un herbicida sist\u00e9mico de amplio espectro utilizado para matar malezas que compiten con cultivos comerciales. En Argentina el uso de herbicidas a base de glifosato aument\u00f3 dram\u00e1ticamente desde la introducci\u00f3n de cultivos resistentes al herbicida, como la soja transg\u00e9nica y el ma\u00edz transg\u00e9nico, y la adopci\u00f3n de pr\u00e1cticas sin labranza en la d\u00e9cada de los 90. Estos herbicidas son hoy los m\u00e1s utilizados en el pa\u00eds, donde se aplican de 180 a 200 millones de litros al a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, las fuertes diferencias regionales en las pr\u00e1cticas agr\u00edcolas son notables, ya que mientras el glifosato se usa ampliamente en la provincia de Buenos Aires, donde m\u00e1s del 70\u00a0% de la tierra cultivable est\u00e1 comprometida con las pr\u00e1cticas de NTF (cultivo sin labranza), su uso agr\u00edcola se limita a \u00e1reas muy espec\u00edficas de la Patagonia, siendo pr\u00e1cticamente insignificantes en la mayor parte de esta regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>El estudio recopil\u00f3 diferentes piezas de informaci\u00f3n \u201cque pueden ensamblarse para producir una imagen preliminar de la ocurrencia del herbicida\u201d en lagos pampeanos poco profundos: el herbicida con mayor presencia fue el glifosato (o su producto de degradaci\u00f3n, AMPA), pero la detecci\u00f3n simult\u00e1nea de ambos qu\u00edmicos fue infrecuente. De manera similar, el herbicida se detect\u00f3 m\u00e1s a menudo en los sedimentos. Aunque no hubo diferencias obvias en la detecci\u00f3n de herbicidas entre cuencas hidrogr\u00e1ficas (o entre lagos rodeados de paisajes contrastantes), s\u00ed las hubo, y en gran medida, entre los lagos cercanos en donde las muestras fueron tomadas casi al mismo tiempo. Por \u00faltimo, la \u201cfrecuencia de determinaciones positivas\u201d fue alta en septiembre-octubre, pero pr\u00e1cticamente nula en noviembre-diciembre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEn conjunto, todos estos datos sugieren que el proceso de transporte y degradaci\u00f3n de herbicidas es altamente din\u00e1mico y complejo\u201d, se\u00f1alaron los especialistas. \u201cEs probable que los procesos a escala regional dicten el momento de los pulsos del herbicida, debido a las mayores tasas de aplicaci\u00f3n y el derrame de agua debido a eventos de lluvia. Sin embargo, el proceso local (es decir, las decisiones de los agricultores sobre los cultivos y el tiempo de aplicaci\u00f3n de los herbicidas, el lavado de la maquinaria de fumigaci\u00f3n) probablemente desempe\u00f1en un papel importante. Por lo tanto, la contribuci\u00f3n del glifosato a la contaminaci\u00f3n del lago sigue siendo altamente
