{"id":51692,"date":"2018-08-25T09:00:46","date_gmt":"2018-08-25T12:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/patagoniambiental.com.ar\/info\/?p=51692"},"modified":"2018-08-24T21:18:34","modified_gmt":"2018-08-25T00:18:34","slug":"la-nasa-va-a-medir-con-alta-precision-el-deshielo-polar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/patagoniambiental.com.ar\/info\/la-nasa-va-a-medir-con-alta-precision-el-deshielo-polar\/","title":{"rendered":"La NASA va a medir con alta precisi\u00f3n el deshielo polar"},"content":{"rendered":"<article id=\"article-post\" class=\"cat-\">\n<div class=\"cuerpo\">\n<p>La Agencia Nacional de Aeron\u00e1utica y el Espacio de\u00a0<a class=\"agrupador\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lmneuquen.com\/estados-unidos-a434\" rel=\"434\">Estados Unidos<\/a>, m\u00e1s conocida como\u00a0<a class=\"agrupador\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lmneuquen.com\/nasa-a8457\" rel=\"8457\">NASA<\/a>, como indican sus siglas, lanzar\u00e1 en los \u00faltimos d\u00edas de septiembre al espacio un instrumento l\u00e1ser para analizar con alta precisi\u00f3n los cambios en la masa del hielo polar de la Tierra.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<article id=\"article-post\" class=\"cat-\">\n<div class=\"cuerpo\">\n<p>El sat\u00e9lite de la NASA, bautizado ICESat-2, medir\u00e1 el cambio de elevaci\u00f3n promedio anual de la capa de hielo terrestre que cubre Groenlandia y la Ant\u00e1rtida, capturando 60.000 mediciones por segundo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLas nuevas tecnolog\u00edas de observaci\u00f3n de ICESat-2 ampliar\u00e1n nuestro conocimiento sobre c\u00f3mo las capas de hielo ubicadas en las zonas de Groenlandia y la Ant\u00e1rtida contribuyen al aumento del nivel del mar\u201d, asegur\u00f3 en un breve comunicado Michael Freilich, director de la Divisi\u00f3n de Ciencias de la Tierra de la NASA.<\/p>\n<p>Este sat\u00e9lite \u201campliar\u00e1 y mejorar\u00e1\u201d la investigaci\u00f3n de la NASA de los \u00faltimos 15 a\u00f1os sobre el cambio del hielo polar, que comenz\u00f3 en 2003 con la primera misi\u00f3n de ICESat y continu\u00f3 en 2009 con la Operaci\u00f3n Ice Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cICESat-2 representa un gran salto tecnol\u00f3gico en nuestra capacidad para medir los cambios en la altura del hielo: su sistema de alt\u00edmetro l\u00e1ser topogr\u00e1fico avanzado (ATLAS) mide la altura seg\u00fan el tiempo que tardan los fotones de luz individuales en viajar desde la nave espacial a la Tierra y viceversa\u201d, se\u00f1al\u00f3 la NASA. ATLAS disparar\u00e1 10.000 veces por segundo, enviando cientos de trillones de fotones a la superficie polar. Gracias a esto, ICESat-2 obtendr\u00e1 una vista \u201cmucho m\u00e1s detallada\u201d de la superficie del hielo que su predecesor, ICESat.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"saysCMSEmphasisb1lcp5bkid\" class=\"saysCMSEmphasis\">El ICESat-2 medir\u00e1 la elevaci\u00f3n promedio anual de la capa de hielo de Groenlandia y la Ant\u00e1rtida.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A medida que circula la Tierra de polo a polo, el nuevo sat\u00e9lite calcular\u00e1 las alturas de hielo a lo largo del mismo itinerario en las regiones polares cuatro veces al a\u00f1o. De esta manera estar\u00e1 proporcionando un control estacional y anual de los cambios en la superficie.<\/p>\n<p>En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, el derretimiento de las capas de hielo de Groenlandia y la Ant\u00e1rtida elev\u00f3 el nivel global del mar en m\u00e1s de un mil\u00edmetro al a\u00f1o, representando aproximadamente un tercio del aumento observado del nivel del mar, y la tasa \u201cest\u00e1 aumentando\u201d, seg\u00fan la NASA. El objetivo de la agencia estadounidense es que los datos de ICESat-2 ayuden a los investigadores a reducir el rango de incertidumbre en las predicciones del aumento futuro del nivel del mar y conectar esos cambios a los factores clim\u00e1ticos. ICESat-2 tambi\u00e9n realizar\u00e1 mediciones precisas para determinar el espesor y el volumen del hielo marino.<\/p>\n<p>Hasta ahora, la agencia estadounidense midi\u00f3 rutinariamente el \u00e1rea cubierta por hielo marino y seg\u00fan los resultados que extrajeron de estas pruebas se observ\u00f3 un declive de ese tipo de superficie en el \u00c1rtico de alrededor del 40 por ciento desde 1980.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Europa y una misi\u00f3n meteorol\u00f3gica<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El sat\u00e9lite europeo Aeolus fue lanzado el mi\u00e9rcoles al espacio desde una estaci\u00f3n en Kourou, en la Guayana francesa, lo que marca el comienzo de una misi\u00f3n coordinada desde Darmstadt (oeste de Alemania) para mejorar los pron\u00f3sticos meteorol\u00f3gicos a trav\u00e9s de una mayor precisi\u00f3n en la observaci\u00f3n de los vientos.<\/p>\n<p>La misi\u00f3n puede ayudar a determinar, entre otros asuntos, la influencia que pueden tener los vientos tropicales del pac\u00edfico en la din\u00e1mica e\u00f3lica en la atm\u00f3sfera europea.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div
