compensar en parte los efectos negativos del cambio clim\u00e1tico sobre la producci\u00f3n agr\u00edcola de los pa\u00edses pobres, indic\u00f3 la Organizaci\u00f3n de la ONU para la Alimentaci\u00f3n y la Agricultura (FAO).<\/p>\n<p>El director general adjunto de la FAO Kostas Stamoulis explic\u00f3 en una conferencia que \u201cel cambio clim\u00e1tico reorganizar\u00e1 la producci\u00f3n en la agricultura a expensas de los pa\u00edses en desarrollo\u201d, situados en su mayor\u00eda en las regiones tropicales.<\/p>\n<p>La seguridad alimentaria de esas zonas est\u00e1 amenazada por el impacto de la variabilidad del clima, con una mayor frecuencia de sequ\u00edas e inundaciones, seg\u00fan un nuevo informe de la agencia sobre el estado del comercio global de alimentos b\u00e1sicos.<\/p>\n<h2>Comercio alimentario y cambio clim\u00e1tico<\/h2>\n<p>Se espera que el cambio clim\u00e1tico altere tambi\u00e9n el mapa de los flujos comerciales, de modo que para 2050 los pa\u00edses del sur de Asia y del norte y del oeste de \u00c1frica aumenten sus importaciones de productos agr\u00edcolas, al tiempo que crecer\u00e1n las exportaciones de Norteam\u00e9rica, Europa y Asia Central.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan la FAO, el comercio mundial podr\u00eda ayudar en parte a llevar los excedentes de alimentos a aquellas \u00e1reas deficitarias, mejorando la disponibilidad y el acceso a esos productos, si bien existe el riesgo de que los peque\u00f1os agricultores de pa\u00edses pobres salgan perdiendo.<\/p>\n<p>El comercio agr\u00edcola mundial se expandi\u00f3 r\u00e1pidamente desde 2000, experiment\u00f3 ciertas contracciones entre 2009 y 2012 y luego un d\u00e9bil crecimiento hasta 2016, cuando su valor ascendi\u00f3 a 1,6 billones de d\u00f3lares (1,36 billones de euros).<\/p>\n<p>En ese periodo la participaci\u00f3n de las econom\u00edas emergentes en los mercados agr\u00edcolas se ha incrementado, como en los casos de Brasil y China, que ocuparon en 2016 el tercer y el cuarto puesto entre los principales exportadores del mundo, respectivamente, por detr\u00e1s de la Uni\u00f3n Europea (UE) y Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n<h2>Pa\u00edses en desarrollo<\/h2>\n<p>Stamoulis a\u00f1adi\u00f3 que los intercambios entre los pa\u00edses pobres y emergentes se intensificaron en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os y, en 2015, alrededor de la mitad de las exportaciones de naciones de ingresos bajos y medios se dirigieron a otros pa\u00edses en desarrollo.<\/p>\n<p>El responsable asegur\u00f3 que las pol\u00edticas comerciales, lejos de \u201cdistorsionar\u201d el mercado, deber\u00edan ser \u201ctransparentes y predecibles\u201d, adem\u00e1s de contemplar aspectos como los seguros agr\u00edcolas o los pagos a cambio de servicios ambientales para contribuir a combatir el cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n<p>Reclam\u00f3 una definici\u00f3n acordada a nivel internacional para definir la huella de carbono en los productos alimentarios con el fin de facilitar las pol\u00edticas clim\u00e1ticas bajo las normas de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial del Comercio (OMC).<\/p>\n<h4>Seg\u00fan la FAO, en principio no existe conflicto entre esas pol\u00edticas y las reglas del comercio multilateral, ya que varias provisiones de la OMC \u201cse pueden acomodar\u201d para cumplir con el Acuerdo de Par\u00eds lucha contra el cambio clim\u00e1tico, adoptado en
