{"id":53200,"date":"2018-09-22T19:00:25","date_gmt":"2018-09-22T22:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/patagoniambiental.com.ar\/info\/?p=53200"},"modified":"2018-09-21T15:05:51","modified_gmt":"2018-09-21T18:05:51","slug":"cambio-climatico-las-praderas-submarinas-en-el-artico-poseen-un-enorme-potencial-como-sumideros-de-carbono","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/patagoniambiental.com.ar\/info\/cambio-climatico-las-praderas-submarinas-en-el-artico-poseen-un-enorme-potencial-como-sumideros-de-carbono\/","title":{"rendered":"CAMBIO CLIM\u00c1TICO: Las praderas submarinas en el \u00c1rtico poseen un \u201cenorme\u201d potencial como sumideros de carbono"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"name post-title entry-title\">Un estudio internacional con participaci\u00f3n de diversas universidades y del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones cient\u00edficas (CSIC) ha certificado el \u00abenorme\u00bb potencial como sumideros de carbono de las praderas submarinas en las regiones del \u00c1rtico y sub-\u00c1rtico, en un escenario de cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"single-post-thumb\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"single-post-thumb\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"post-meta\"><span class=\"span-verde\">Publicado por:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.efeverde.com\/author\/pruebasredaccion\/\">Redacci\u00f3n EFEverde<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"span-verde\">19 Septiembre, 2018<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"span-verde\">Madrid<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"post-meta\">Seg\u00fan el comunicado facilitado por el CSIC, la p\u00e9rdida de los sumideros naturales en zonas tropicales y templadas -hasta un 30 % de la extensi\u00f3n de praderas de angiospermas marinas en estas regiones, desde los a\u00f1os cuarenta del siglo XX- ha contribuido en los \u00faltimos decenios a la emisi\u00f3n de gases de efecto invernadero \u201cy por lo tanto al calentamiento global\u201d.<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<h2>La<em>\u00a0Zostera marina<\/em>\u00a0del \u00c1rtico<\/h2>\n<p>En cambio, en las costas del \u00c1rtico y sub-\u00c1rtico, la angiosperma \u2018Zostera marina\u2019 crece \u201ca su \u00f3ptimo t\u00e9rmico\u201d y \u201cse espera que el calentamiento del oc\u00e9ano proyectado para finales de este siglo favorezca su crecimiento y producci\u00f3n\u201d seg\u00fan\u00a0<strong>Nuria Marb\u00e1<\/strong>, coautora del trabajo e investigadora del CSIC en el Instituto Mediterr\u00e1neo de Estudios Avanzados.<\/p>\n<p>De esta manera, Marb\u00e1 cree que este tipo de ecosistemas puede convertirse en \u201cun sumidero de carbono natural muy importante en el futuro\u201d.<\/p>\n<div class=\"box shadow\">\n<div class=\"box-inner-block\"><i class=\"tieicon-boxicon\"><\/i>El estudio examina la tasa de acumulaci\u00f3n de carbono, as\u00ed como la cantidad y origen del que est\u00e1 almacenado en el sedimento de tres praderas submarinas en los fiordos de la regi\u00f3n de Nuuk (Groenlandia) durante los \u00faltimos siglos.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>La presencia de este tipo de praderas en Nuuk fue documentada por vez primera en 1830, aunque la primera observaci\u00f3n de dos de las tres estudiadas data de 1910 y la tercera, de 2009.<\/p>\n<h2>Un sumidero nuevo<\/h2>\n<p>Su expansi\u00f3n \u201crepresenta un sumidero de carbono nuevo\u201d y si bien \u201cen la actualidad son poco significativas porque su tama\u00f1o es peque\u00f1o, su potencial de expansi\u00f3n bajo un escenario de cambio clim\u00e1tico es enorme\u201d ya que las costas de Groenlandia representan el 12 % del per\u00edmetro de costa global, ha a\u00f1adido uno de los coautores del informe,\u00a0<strong>Carlos M. Duarte<\/strong>, desde la Universidad de Ciencia y Tecnolog\u00eda Rey Abdal\u00e1 (Arabia Saudita).<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de los centros citados, en el informe tambi\u00e9n han participado investigadores de la Universidad de las Islas Baleares y la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Barcelona, as\u00ed como las de Arhus (Dinamarca) y Edith Cowan University (Australia).<\/p>\n<p>Fuente:
