Contreras Koob\/Costa Salvaje Publicado por:\u00a0Zoilo Carrillo\u00a08 Octubre, 2018\u00a0M\u00e9xico<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<p>Se le llama\u00a0<em>carbono\u00a0azul\u00a0<\/em>al\u00a0carbono\u00a0org\u00e1nico capturado por los ecosistemas costeros, especialmente a trav\u00e9s de los pastos marinos, las marismas y los manglares, estim\u00e1ndose que estos \u00faltimos captan hasta cinco veces m\u00e1s cantidad que una selva tropical.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cEn su momento se consider\u00f3 a los bosques y a las selvas h\u00famedas como ideales para la captura de\u00a0carbono, pero los estudios recientes demuestran que justo son los ecosistemas costeros los que tienen una mayor capacidad tanto de almacenar como de resguardar el\u00a0carbono\u201d<\/em>, asegur\u00f3 a EFEverde la bi\u00f3loga y experta en ecolog\u00eda marina Tannia Fausto.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_116051\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-116051\" src=\"https:\/\/www.efeverde.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/manglar-Brasil-Delta-das-Am%C3%A9ricas-Delta-de-Parna%C3%ADba.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"386\" height=\"445\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">EFE\/Pau Ram\u00edrez<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Acuerdos de destino<\/h2>\n<p>La responsable de humedales y cambio clim\u00e1tico en la\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WILDCOAST?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ONG Costa Salvaje\u00a0<\/a>consider\u00f3 el tema como\u00a0<em>\u201cnovedoso\u201d<\/em>\u00a0y con potencial para, a futuro, generar bonos de\u00a0carbono\u00a0como hoy d\u00eda ya se hace con los bosques.<br \/>\nPor ello, Costa Salvaje lleva a cabo una estrategia con el apoyo de dos organismos mexicanos, la Comisi\u00f3n Nacional de \u00c1reas Naturales Protegidas (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CONANP_mx?lang=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Conanp<\/a>) y la Secretar\u00eda de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/semarnat_mx?lang=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Semarnat<\/a>) denominada\u00a0<em>\u201cAcuerdos de destino<\/em>\u201c.<br \/>\n<em>\u201cLo que buscamos con esta estrategia es identificar estas porciones de ambientes costeros que sean de relevancia ecol\u00f3gica, solicitarlas como acuerdo de destino y con ello establecer la estrategia del\u00a0carbono\u00a0azul, que es cuantificar cu\u00e1nto CO2 contienen los manglares\u201d<\/em>, abund\u00f3 Fausto.<\/p>\n<h2>Miden los sedimentos en el suelo del manglar<\/h2>\n<p>Para hacer esto, los especialistas, en colaboraci\u00f3n con el Australian Rivers Institute (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/griffithari\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ARI<\/a>) toman n\u00facleos de sedimento ubicados en el suelo, a una profundidad de aproximadamente un metro bajo las faldas del manglar.<br \/>\nDespu\u00e9s, las muestras son llevadas a laboratorio y ah\u00ed se cuantifica cu\u00e1nto\u00a0carbono\u00a0tiene.<br \/>\nLa bi\u00f3loga egresada del Instituto Polit\u00e9cnico Nacional (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ipn_mx?lang=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IPN<\/a>) indic\u00f3 que esto se ha realizado hasta la fecha en la pen\u00ednsula de Baja California y asegur\u00f3 que, a futuro, el plan es\u00a0<em>\u201cplantear la certificaci\u00f3n de bonos de\u00a0carbono\u201d<\/em>.<br \/>\nLos bonos de\u00a0carbono\u00a0son una herramienta econ\u00f3mica creada dentro del Protocolo de Kioto, y que busca crear un aliciente para las empresas y entidades gubernamentales a la hora de descontaminar el planeta pues, al adquirir estos bonos, reducen sus emisiones de\u00a0carbono\u00a0y promueven proyectos como la reforestaci\u00f3n y la preservaci\u00f3n, entre otras medidas.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_116052\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-116052\" src=\"https:\/\/www.efeverde.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/manglar-Costa-Rica-parque-nacional-Carara.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"347\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Se toman n\u00facleos de sedimento ubicados en el suelo, a un metro de profundidad bajo las faldas del manglar. EFE\/Jeffrey Arguedas<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>La idea de introducir la protecci\u00f3n de ecosistemas costeros resultar\u00eda ideal dada su poderosa capacidad de captaci\u00f3n y otros beneficios que brindan al planeta.<\/p>\n<h2>Ventajas y beneficios<\/h2>\n<p>En entrevista con EFEverde, la experta en qu\u00edmica de la atm\u00f3sfera y el\u00a0carbono\u00a0negro del Centro de Ciencias de la Atm\u00f3sfera de la Universidad Nacional Aut\u00f3noma de M\u00e9xico (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cca_unam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UNAM<\/a>) Xochitl Cruz mencion\u00f3 algunos de estos beneficios.<br \/>\nDestac\u00f3 la purificaci\u00f3n del agua, el dar h\u00e1bitat a numerosas especies,\u00a0<em>\u201ctanto con importancia econ\u00f3mica como sin ella\u201d,<\/em>\u00a0y la capacidad para evitar la erosi\u00f3n de las playas.<\/p>\n<div class=\"box shadow\">\n<div class=\"box-inner-block\"><i class=\"tieicon-boxicon\"><\/i>\u201c<em>Generan un sistema fuerte que evita que la playa pierda los nutrientes y estos se vayan hacia el mar<\/em>\u201c,\u00a0apoyan el sustento de las pesquer\u00edas\u201d, al ser considerados como\u00a0<em>\u201clos hospitales donde nacen las especies marinas\u201d<\/em>\u00a0y son\u00a0motores de la econom\u00eda porque adem\u00e1s son destinos tur\u00edsticos\u201d, agreg\u00f3.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Estos beneficios para el planeta que brindan estos ecosistemas, a su juicio, deber\u00edan servir para crear una regulaci\u00f3n s\u00f3lida que\u00a0<em>\u201ctodav\u00eda no existe\u201d<\/em>.<br \/>\n<em>\u201cNo hay una regulaci\u00f3n al respecto, est\u00e1 la protecci\u00f3n de las especies en peligro pero una protecci\u00f3n para los ecosistemas costeros para mitigar los efectos del
