r\u00e1pidamente las emisiones de di\u00f3xido de carbono y de otros gases de efecto invernadero, el cambio clim\u00e1tico tendr\u00e1 efectos cada vez m\u00e1s destructivos e irreversibles en la vida en la Tierra\u201d<\/em>, dijo el secretario general de la\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wmo?lang=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">OMM<\/a>\u00a0 Petteri Taalas, un reconocido cient\u00edfico finland\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNuestra oportunidad de actuar est\u00e1 a punto de agotarse\u201d<\/em>, agreg\u00f3, para incidir en el sentido de urgencia que tiene revertir las tendencias de emisiones de gases que efecto invernadero, que atrapan el calor en la atm\u00f3sfera.<\/p>\n<p>Taalas present\u00f3 el Bolet\u00edn de la OMM de fin de a\u00f1o sobre la concentraci\u00f3n de los principales gases causantes de ese fen\u00f3meno, que revela que -pese a los compromisos internacionales para reducir las emisiones- no hay indicios de que se haya estabilizado y menos de que haya disminuido.<\/p>\n<p>Las consecuencias son un cambio clim\u00e1tico a largo plazo, la subida del nivel del mar, la acidificaci\u00f3n de los oc\u00e9anos y un mayor n\u00famero de fen\u00f3menos meteorol\u00f3gicos extremos.<\/p>\n<h2>CO2: de 400 ppm en 2015 a 405,5 ppm en 2017<\/h2>\n<p>Seg\u00fan los datos proporcionados a la prensa por la OMM, la concentraci\u00f3n media de CO2 pas\u00f3 de 400,1 partes por mill\u00f3n (ppm) en 2015 a 403,3 ppm en 2016 y a 405,5 ppm el a\u00f1o pasado.<\/p>\n<p>Se trata del\u00a0<em>principal gas de efecto invernadero<\/em>\u00a0de larga duraci\u00f3n en la atm\u00f3sfera y\u00a0<em>el m\u00e1s reciente nivel de concentraci\u00f3n detectado representa el 146 % del nivel en la era preindustrial (ante de 1750).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>La OMM tambi\u00e9n se\u00f1al\u00f3 que han subido las concentraciones de metano y \u00f3xido nitroso, y que ha reaparecido el CFC-11 (triclorofluorometano), un potente gas de efecto invernadero cuya producci\u00f3n ha aumentado en Asia oriental, donde es utilizado por la industria.<\/p>\n<h2>Programa de Vigilancia de la Atm\u00f3sfera Global<\/h2>\n<p>El Bolet\u00edn de la OMM se basa en las observaciones de su Programa de Vigilancia de la Atm\u00f3sfera Global, que documenta los cambios en los niveles de los gases causantes del calentamiento del planeta como resultado de procesos industriales, el uso de energ\u00eda procedente de combustibles f\u00f3siles, pr\u00e1cticas agr\u00edcolas intensivas y la deforestaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>En ese programa se eval\u00faa la informaci\u00f3n aportada por 53 pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n<p>La OMM dijo que estos datos cient\u00edficos se suman a las pruebas aportadas por el Grupo Intergubernamental de Expertos sobre el Cambio Clim\u00e1tico (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ipcc_ch?lang=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IPCC<\/a>, como es conocido por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) de que las emisiones netas de CO2 deben quedar en cero en 2050 para limitar el aumento de la temperatura a 1,5 grados.<\/p>\n<p>La reducci\u00f3n a cero de las emisiones netas no implica que no hayan m\u00e1s emisiones, sino que la cantidad que se incorpora a la atm\u00f3sfera debe ser igual a la absorbida por sumideros, naturales y tecnol\u00f3gicos).<\/p>\n<p>Fuente:
