{"id":72995,"date":"2021-06-22T19:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-22T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/patagoniambiental.com.ar\/info\/?p=72995"},"modified":"2021-06-22T12:19:02","modified_gmt":"2021-06-22T15:19:02","slug":"la-antartida-y-el-futuro-de-la-ciencia-del-agua","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/patagoniambiental.com.ar\/info\/la-antartida-y-el-futuro-de-la-ciencia-del-agua\/","title":{"rendered":"La Ant\u00e1rtida y el futuro de la ciencia del agua"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>El Sub-grupo de Trabajo Regional de Ciencias del Agua de Ant\u00e1rtida del PHI-LAC comenz\u00f3 a trabajar el 2 de junio de 2021 con un equipo de profesionales especializados, orientado a fortalecer el intercambio cient\u00edfico entre t\u00e9cnicos que trabajan en el continente blanco.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Ant\u00e1rtida es la mayor reserva de hielo glacial que existe en el mundo, y como tal, es el cuerpo m\u00e1s grande de agua dulce de la Tierra. Contiene un registro \u00fanico de varios procesos a lo largo de los \u00faltimos 800 mil a\u00f1os, lo que la convierte en un punto clave para entender las interacciones entre los fen\u00f3menos clim\u00e1ticos, hidrol\u00f3gicos, ecol\u00f3gicos y sociales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Desafortunadamente, el cambio clim\u00e1tico la atraviesa de forma directa, reduciendo su superficie y el volumen de las capas de hielo. Y a pesar de las diversas investigaciones realizadas en el territorio, existen todav\u00eda interrogantes sobre los fen\u00f3menos que la afectan, y su relaci\u00f3n con los procesos hidrol\u00f3gicos globales. El desaf\u00edo actual, entonces, es coordinar investigaciones cient\u00edficas sobre agua que permitan comprender mejor estos procesos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Programa Hidrol\u00f3gico Intergubernamental de la UNESCO en Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe (PHI-LAC) facilita, en este sentido, el intercambio y la cooperaci\u00f3n entre los pa\u00edses de la regi\u00f3n en materia de agua. En concreto, la actual fase del PHI apunta a alcanzar el concepto de&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/es.unesco.org\/news\/futuro-del-agua-es-seguridad-hidrica\"><strong>seguridad h\u00eddrica&nbsp;<\/strong><\/a>brindando respuestas a los desaf\u00edos locales, regionales y mundiales. El&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/es.unesco.org\/fieldoffice\/montevideo\/SeguridadHidricaALC\/TemasFaseVIII\/hielos\">equipo de trabajo sobre Hielos y Nieves<\/a>&nbsp;es uno de los 13 grupos que integran este programa de la UNESCO, y tiene el cometido de fortalecer el conocimiento cient\u00edfico en esta materia, y sus interacciones socio-econ\u00f3micas y ambientales, particularmente en lo que respecta a los glaciares Andinos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este compromiso de la UNESCO comenz\u00f3 forjarse hace m\u00e1s de 60 a\u00f1os. El Sr. Miguel Doria, Hidr\u00f3logo Regional del PHI-LAC, record\u00f3 los antecedentes de la instituci\u00f3n relacionados con este tipo de iniciativas, incluyendo segmentos en el \u00e1mbito del A\u00f1o Geof\u00edsico Internacional (1957 a 1958), el Decenio Hidrol\u00f3gico Internacional (DHI) (1965-1974) y la creaci\u00f3n del Programa Hidrol\u00f3gico Intergubernamental en 1975.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sobre la formaci\u00f3n del Sub-grupo de Trabajo Regional de Ciencias del Agua de Ant\u00e1rtida del PHI-LAC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El objetivo de este subgrupo es fortalecer el conocimiento cient\u00edfico sobre los procesos del ciclo hidrol\u00f3gico y sus interacciones medioambientales en Ant\u00e1rtida, a trav\u00e9s de la cooperaci\u00f3n regional. Trabajar\u00e1 especialmente en el fortalecimiento de actividades de investigaci\u00f3n de ciencias del agua relacionadas a la cri\u00f3sfera; promover la especializaci\u00f3n e incrementaci\u00f3n de las capacidades de expertos y t\u00e9cnicos; intercambiar informaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica entre instituciones en diferentes pa\u00edses; y adoptar metodolog\u00edas de monitoreo hidrol\u00f3gico y glaciol\u00f3gico estandarizadas. El subgrupo generar\u00e1 publicaciones, herramientas de monitoreo, cursos de capacitaci\u00f3n, actividades de investigaci\u00f3n y eventos cient\u00edficos, entre otros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante la reuni\u00f3n de su formaci\u00f3n, presentaron distinguidos expertos de Argentina, Brasil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, M\u00e9xico, Per\u00fa y Uruguay. Se cont\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n con la participaci\u00f3n de destacados miembros de la organizaci\u00f3n de la Reuni\u00f3n de Administradores de Programa Ant\u00e1rticos Latinoamericanos (RAPAL). Esta reuni\u00f3n fue un nuevo paso para apoyar las sinergias entre los distintos actores y compartir los conocimientos sobre la ciencia del agua en la Ant\u00e1rtida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En esta ocasi\u00f3n se acord\u00f3 la organizaci\u00f3n de un evento cient\u00edfico y la preparaci\u00f3n de una publicaci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica, entre otras actividades. Se espera que estos intercambios permitan avanzar de una forma m\u00e1s r\u00e1pida y eficiente para un mejor conocimiento de los sistemas h\u00eddricos de Ant\u00e1rtida, base fundamental para una mejor protecci\u00f3n de este importante ecosistema y reservorio de agua
