{"id":75137,"date":"2022-02-06T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-06T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/patagoniambiental.com.ar\/info\/?p=75137"},"modified":"2022-02-04T09:33:31","modified_gmt":"2022-02-04T12:33:31","slug":"estudio-revela-que-bosques-nativos-chilotes-son-importantes-reservorios-del-agua-de-verano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/patagoniambiental.com.ar\/info\/estudio-revela-que-bosques-nativos-chilotes-son-importantes-reservorios-del-agua-de-verano\/","title":{"rendered":"Estudio revela que bosques nativos chilotes son importantes reservorios del agua de verano"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>La investigaci\u00f3n realizada en la Estaci\u00f3n Biol\u00f3gica Senda Darwin releva la importancia de los bosques nativos para enfrentar las anomal\u00edas en las precipitaciones producto del cambio clim\u00e1tico y la consecuente crisis h\u00eddrica.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El estudio publicado en la revista especializada&nbsp;<em>Frontiers in Forests and Globlal Change,&nbsp;<\/em>revela la importancia de los bosques nativos renovales de zonas templadas en un contexto de cambio clim\u00e1tico, considerando que en esta zona las predicciones de los modelos clim\u00e1ticos indican un aumento de las temperaturas y una disminuci\u00f3n en un 30% de las precipitaciones de verano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El estudio fue realizado por un grupo de investigadores del Instituto de Ecolog\u00eda y Biodiversidad (IEB) y liderado por el Ecohidr\u00f3logo Cristi\u00e1n Fr\u00eane, quienes generaron datos que no hab\u00edan sido reportados previamente en Chile. Mediante el registro de 35 eventos de lluvia distribuidos entre abril de 2019 y enero de 2021, se busc\u00f3 entender c\u00f3mo se distribuye el agua de lluvia una vez que ingresa al bosque en las diferentes estaciones del a\u00f1o. Los resultados muestran una mayor intercepci\u00f3n de la lluvia durante la temporada primavera-verano en comparaci\u00f3n con similares eventos de lluvia en oto\u00f1o-invierno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los bosques renovales corresponden a bosques cuyos arboles m\u00e1s viejos han sido extra\u00eddos o bosques que crecen a partir de una zona deforestada y transformadas en pastizal o matorral. Este tipo de bosques renovales, en particular aquellos dominados por las especies siempreverdes Coig\u00fce y Canelo, son abundantes en el archipi\u00e9lago de Chilo\u00e9. \u201cNo sab\u00edamos c\u00f3mo este tipo de bosque regula el movimiento del agua de lluvia, entonces instalamos una serie de instrumentos cient\u00edficos que nos permitieron cuantificar la cantidad de agua que ingresa a trav\u00e9s de las ramas y troncos de los \u00e1rboles, aquella que atraviesa la copa de los \u00e1rboles y aquella que pasa entremedio de las copas como precipitaci\u00f3n directa. Con estos datos logramos estimar la proporci\u00f3n del agua total que es atrapada en las copas de los \u00e1rboles y se evapora, denominada intercepci\u00f3n, la cual anualmente corresponde al 33%\u201d, explic\u00f3 Cristi\u00e1n Fr\u00eane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\" id=\"attachment_38546\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ieb-chile.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/bajaaaa-cristian-frene-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38546\"\/><figcaption>Investigador Cristi\u00e1n Fr\u00eane<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando se considera este dato anual, nuestros resultados son similares a los&nbsp; bosques templados de otras partes del mundo, pero cuando se analizan las estaciones del a\u00f1o por separado, vemos resultados m\u00e1s interesantes, explica el investigador. \u201cCuando estamos en verano y llueve, la proporci\u00f3n de la precipitaci\u00f3n interceptada aumenta a un 40%, quedando un 60% de agua retenido en este tipo de bosques. Si en los veranos llueve menos, esto podr\u00eda provocar una disminuci\u00f3n en el ingreso de agua al suelo del bosque que es donde se almacena, provocando menos salida de agua hacia los esteros y napas subterr\u00e1neas\u201d, precis\u00f3 el director de la Red de sitios de estudio socio-ecol\u00f3gicos de largo plazo (LTSER-Chile).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sobre la utilidad de los resultados de esta investigaci\u00f3n, indica: \u201cEs fundamental realizar pr\u00e1cticas de manejo de bosques a escala de paisaje que permitan no s\u00f3lo obtener madera y le\u00f1a, sino que tambi\u00e9n permitan promover el ingreso de agua mediante pr\u00e1cticas de conservaci\u00f3n del suelo del bosque, que es donde mayormente se almacena el agua y permite suplir el d\u00e9ficit del verano \u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La directora de la Estaci\u00f3n Biol\u00f3gica Senda Darwin y coautora del art\u00edculo, Dra. Mariela N\u00fa\u00f1ez, menciona que \u00ablos registros de precipitaci\u00f3n de 22 a\u00f1os de la estaci\u00f3n metereol\u00f3gica de la Estaci\u00f3n Biol\u00f3gica Senda Darwin muestran una disminuci\u00f3n de las precipitaciones de verano, lo que sumado a la tala y degradaci\u00f3n de los bosques antiguos chilotes, est\u00e1n desencadenando una grave crisis h\u00eddrica estival que enfrenta el archipi\u00e9lago en las \u00faltimas dos d\u00e9cadas. Nuestras investigaciones nos permiten entender c\u00f3mo funcionan nuestros ecosistemas, sus beneficios para la sociedad y de que manera podremos hacer frente al cambio clim\u00e1tico mejorando la toma de decisiones basada en la ciencia, a nivel local, regional y global\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este estudio se titula, \u201cSeasonal Partitioning of Rainfall in Second-Growth Evergreen Temperate Rainforests in Chilo\u00e9 Island, Southern Chile\u201d y cont\u00f3 con la participaci\u00f3n de los investigadores del Instituto de Ecolog\u00eda y Biodiversidad, Dr. Cristi\u00e1n Frene, Director de la Red LTSER Chile, Dra.
