del Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Qu\u00edmica de la Universidad Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona (UAB) han conseguido obtener energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica e hidr\u00f3geno de manera eficiente a partir del proceso de depuraci\u00f3n de aguas residuales, seg\u00fan ha informado el centro universitario en un comunicado.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El sistema propuesto, publicado en &#8216;Water Research&#8217;, se basa en las llamadas celdas microbianas de electr\u00f3lisis, que utilizan bacterias que consumen la materia org\u00e1nica y producen una corriente el\u00e9ctrica que permite la producci\u00f3n de hidr\u00f3geno, el vector energ\u00e9tico del futuro.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En estas celdas s\u00f3lo hay que a\u00f1adir un poco de energ\u00eda en forma de voltaje, mucha menos de la necesaria para hacer la electr\u00f3lisis del agua, pero se recupera m\u00e1s en forma de hidr\u00f3geno, consiguiendo generaci\u00f3n neta de energ\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En su experimento, los cient\u00edficos de la UAB, coordinados por los profesores Albert Guisasola y Juan Antonio Baeza, han utilizado aguas residuales reales y han logrado la producci\u00f3n biol\u00f3gica de hidr\u00f3geno y la recuperaci\u00f3n, durante el proceso de tratamiento, de buena parte de la energ\u00eda contenida en los residuos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para conseguirlo, los investigadores han seleccionado un conjunto de bacterias capaz de transformar estos sustratos complejos, metanol, residuos l\u00e1cteos, almid\u00f3n y glicerol, en compuestos m\u00e1s simples que pueden ser degradados por los microorganismos exoelectr\u00f3genos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As\u00ed, se\u00f1alan que \u00ablos resultados han sido muy positivos y se ha conseguido intensidades de corriente y velocidades de producci\u00f3n de hidr\u00f3geno muy elevadas\u00bb que abren la puerta al desarrollo
